FESCo has decided to merge some of the policy around service units, socket units and timer units into a single policy that treats all units that run as default the same way.
Proposed updates to "Starting services by default": [https://fedoraproject.org/w/index.php?title=User%3ASgallagh%2FStarting_services_by_default&diff=cur&oldid=413365 diff]
Proposed updates to "ScriptletSnippets: [https://fedoraproject.org/w/index.php?title=User%3ASgallagh%2FScriptletSnippets&diff=cur&oldid=413393 diff]
Additionally, it would probably make sense to make the "Starting services by default" page part of the Packaging Guidelines rather than just a wiki page. If FPC agrees, please edit the link in the ScriptletSnippets page.
We discussed this at this weeks meeting (http://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/fedora-meeting-1/2015-05-21/fpc.2015-05-21-16.08.txt):
The policy for systemd presets has been modified to merge the individual treatments of service, socket and timer units into one policy. The policy page was also moved into the packaging guidelines proper.
One minor clarification to be added after today's FESCo meeting.
Do we really need to vote on this to remove the word manual? The second part of the diff. just seems like better wording to say the same thing.
Oops, dropping "manual" was actually unintentional. Leave that in, please.
The rest is intended to be merely a clarification yes.
I have made the change, leaving manual in. Given the discussion, this deserves an announcement. So...
The "Locally running services" section of the Default Services guidelines been clarified.
