#1227 Support for Flutter SDE in Fedora
Closed: invalid a year ago by gbcox. Opened a year ago by gbcox.

I started a discussion here: https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/flutter-sde-in-fedora/44068

I support the yubioath-desktop package and found out today that they have moved away from Qt and are now using Flutter. I searched the guidelines and there is no mention of Flutter and we don't have it in the production repository.

Have we considered supporting Flutter? The reason that I'm asking is that while the previous legacy version of yubioath-desktop is currently working, the apps are tightly coupled (yubikey-manager, yubikey-manager-qt and yubioath-desktop.) So, this basically is going to affect all yubico apps.

I also realize (or at least believe) that this isn't a simple issue of just installing the Flutter SDK. We're going to need some guidelines probably to go with it.

Someone needs to package the Flutter stack first before we can have packaging guidelines for Flutter apps.

Yeah, that's kind of a given - but that doesn't mean we can't start thinking about it.

Well, I don't know anything about how Dart stuff works, so I'm not sure what we should be doing here.

Yes, filing a ticket here would be incredibly premature unless, perhaps, you are the one packaging flutter, it's getting close, and you are planning to provide, if not a PR with the new guidelines, strong guidance as to how packaging of flutter applications would work.

In case it's not clear, this committee formulates guidelines for how to package things. This isn't the place to request that things be packaged, or to coordinate specific packaging efforts outside of maintenance of the packaging guidelines.

OK, just wanted to give a heads-up.
