#532 Add "mulhern"[1] to sponsors group
Opened 2 months ago by mulhern. Modified a month ago

For the purpose of sponsoring a Fedora member to assist with packaging tasks for the Fedora packages packaged by "mulhern".

It's been a week with only 1 +1. However, there have been email issues this last week. Lets keep this open another week for more votes...

I was told I ought to post some package reviews:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2015224
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2018307
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2018532

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1343734
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1353606

I maintain 22 packages, which is more than the required 3.

I have been a member of the packager group for 5 years (approximately 10 release cycles, more than the requirement of 1).

In the first three reviews, the review is posted by "Bryan Gurney", while "mulhern" only sets the flag. What is going on here?

That aside: @mulhern I wonder why you think you need to be a sponsor? This is actually a case where you don't need to be one for your co-maintainer to get added to the "packager" group.

If you vouch for your future co-maintainer and commit to guiding them through the packaging process, some other sponsor can add them to the "packager" group (I just can't find the docs for this right now).

But it took me like 5 links to get there from https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/package-maintainers/How_to_Sponsor_a_New_Contributor/

It is exactly this person whom I wish to sponsor to help me co-maintain my packages. Bryan has already worked w/ me on packaging related activities, in this case running the review script, examining the output, and discussing any points that might come up, as necessary, before I sign off on it. I want Bryan to be enabled to cooperate with me more fully, by making it possible for him to become a co-maintainer of the packages I maintain. This seems an eminently reasonable step to me, as we have cooperated in many more packaging-related tasks than this one of package review.

Thanks for letting me know. The reason is, "the docs". I did my best to follow what I thought were the necessary steps, based on my reading of those docs, but misunderstood their intended meaning.

Ok. I vouch for Bryan right now and commit to guiding Bryan through the packaging process, because being enabled to do exactly that is really my whole purpose in opening this issue.. But I need further help before I can start the process that you are encouraging me to start:

  • How do I identify Bryan as the person I want sponsored by someone else? Bryan has a login on bodhi[1], does that work? Does Bryan need an additional login in some other system?
  • How do I find out who is in the sponsors group, so I can ask one of them to sponsor Bryan?

I'll take care of sponsoring them for you.

Done

With Bryan being sponsored, there is nothing left to be done in this ticket, right?

+1 too, assuming that mulhern wants to sponsor additional people. We always need more sponsors.
