#327 Sponsor request: python-jieba - Chinese Words Segementation Utilities and Bstrlib -- Better String Library
Closed: accepted 6 years ago Opened 6 years ago by yecheng.

I would like to request a sponsor for this package:https://github.com/fxsjy/jieba
Review ticket is at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1479280
The package has been approved and the status have been set to POST, so it won't be displayed on the "Approved reviews which might still need a sponsor" link.

Review ticket of Bstrlib is at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1476434

Setting bugzilla ticket "Status:" to "POST" is not a standard step described in the package review process document. It is not clear why the reviewer did that or whether he thinks it may be useful. I doubt anyone searches review tickets for POST status.

Changing status and approving packages prior to sponsoring also hides tickets from the http://fedoraproject.org/PackageReviewStatus/ tracker, which is bad. Could the tracker be fixed to handle that? And list such tickets in a different colour or a second table?

Additionally, the Spec URL and SRPM URL currently give 404 not found.

Setting bugzilla ticket "Status:" to "POST" is not a standard step described in the package review process document.

People commonly set tickets with fedora-review+ flag to POST, because this is much easier to see in bug listings and in bug relationship SVGs generated by bugzilla. I understand POST to mean that the reviewer is done with that ticket, and it's up to the package owner to push it through repo creation and other steps.

Changing status and approving packages prior to sponsoring also hides tickets

Right. It probably wasn't updated when the rules were changed to allow non-sponsors to conduct reviews and approve packages prior to sponsorship.

the Spec URL and SRPM URL currently give 404 not found.

Right, those files should remain available until after the package has been built in koji.

Hmm, two out of three issues you raise are about the details of internal Fedora processes that the ticket submitter has no influence over (and probably little knowledge too). It'd be probably better to discuss the sponsorship request here, and leave the meta-discussions to fedora-devel@ or some other medium.

@yecheng sorry for the long delay.

(General advice for working in Fedora: sometimes things slip through the cracks, so if you are not getting a response, and you think you should, a friendly ping is very much welcome.)

I see you did multiple reviews ( #1494914, #1495845, #1479022, #1431422 ) and packages (#1479280), so the packager bit is rightfully yours. I'll add you in a moment. Once again, sorry for the long delay, I hope it doesn't discourage you from working in Fedora. Use your powers for good ;)
