#84 LinuxFest NW 2019 (April 2019)
Closed: Complete 4 years ago by bex. Opened 5 years ago by steelaworkn.

LFNW2019 submission

This year, I am requesting $750 for a Silver Sponsorship. That covers a 5 ft. space. That's enough for a table and a banner. It also covers lunch and T-Shirts for 2 people. I'm also requesting fuel for for myself.

My talk will be the History of Fedora. Call-for-Paper deadline is Jan. 31, 2019. LFNW is really quick to get back to us upon acceptance of the submitted talks. The booth will do demos of Workstation with side conversations of SilverBlue and Modularity.

Budget:
750 for Silver Sponsorship
60 for gas for Jeff Fitzmaurice
$$ for travel for TBA
$300 for 2 night accommodations for each for potential out-of-towners
(I will be commuting each day.)

Lodging:

Heliotrope Hotel https://www.heliotropehotel.com/

Average costs of hotel stay is $150 a night. There are some Air B&B options. Planning ahead is a good idea.

The Event page is https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/LinuxFestNW_2019_Event

An Alternative Budget:
$160 ($80 per Individual Sponsorships)
$60 for gas for Jeff Fitzmaurice
( For anyone who would like to come from out of town: $300 for 2 night accommodations for each)
I will be commuting each day.

+1 from bt0, x3mboy, bexelbie, nb

tentatively approved, but leaving open for votes from absent members @jsmith @sumantrom

Is it the $750 Silver Sponsorship you are approving or the $160 for 2 Individual Sponsorships? Please clarify.

$750 silver sponsorship is approved.

Bill Wright is my contact for LFNW. He is requesting billing information so he can send a proper invoice via PayPal. Should I do an official two part Budget ticket?

Part 1--$750 to LFNW t/b paid ASAP
Part 2-- $$(less than 60 bucks) to @steelaworkn for Fuel t/b paid post event

Send to Brian Exelbierd at bexelbie@redhat.com

OK. I relayed the message to Bill Wright.

leaving open until event is over for the report and the gas reimb. (via a budget ticket)

Hey all. A little update. My "talk" was approved for Linux Fest NW. Will be my first ever for this event. It will be part motivational and part educational. They film every talk so I will put a link to it in my final report.

Cool. Do you have the abstract? Let's make sure to promote this on social media.

Hey @steelaworkn how did the event go? Please post a link to your event report here.

Thanks for reminding me @bex . I have the report written. I've been really busy with a death in the family. I will submit the report by this weekend. In short though, the event went well. We gave out stickers, earbuds, and pens. I had a guest from Red Hat with me on both days as well as my daughter on Sunday.

But, I'll leave the rest for the report.

@steelaworkn I am sorry to hear of your loss. Thank you for the update.

@steelaworkn just checking in with you. How are you doing?

Thanks for asking. Things have been busy. I will do my best to complete a u=
pload my report by Saturday evening.

I have to say that I am embarrassed after watching the video of my presenta=
tion. Lots to learn from it. That was my first public discourse after over =
10 years.

RE: videos - I get that feeling EVERY TIME I see any video of me speaking ... it's completely natural. We need to get you out there doing more talks :D

Agreed. I think my topic was good and fitting for the event theme. The crow=
d participated well. I can always do better. I did make a couple of serious=
mistakes but I think that was due to being nervous. There will be a link t=
o the video in my report.

Sorry so late on this. We had a death in the family, we are building a house, and my job is pretty stressful right now. But...my blogs can be found at https://steelaworkn.blogspot.com/ and https://wordpress.com/view/steelaworkn.wordpress.com . My fuel was minimal at 35.92. Attached is my receipt and can be reimbursed via PayPal steelaworkn@gmail.com.

@steelaworkn can you open a budget ticket in pagure.io/fedora-budget for the reimbursement? Thank you.

Great blog entries. Thinking back, was there a question that stood as a frequently asked by the crowd?

Note: You have a duplicated paragraph in the Prologue of https://steelaworkn.blogspot.com/

Thanks. I'll make the correction s. And mostly people were eager to see the=
new features of Fedora 30. There was even a boy of about 12 years old who =
was looking forward to the new release.
