#48 SeaGL Funding Request
Closed: Complete 5 years ago by bex. Opened 5 years ago by steelaworkn.

I am planning on going to SeaGL in downtown Seattle at Seattle Central College. The event takes place Nov. 9 thru Nov. 10. Since the event is taking place during an active school day, parking is limited. I will need to pay for parking both days. And Seattle is about 70-80 miles away, so I am asking for gas reimbursement.

For the event, Fedora has been granted a free, non-profit booth. I will have a table to set up on. I already have the West Coast Event Box with Swag.

The students I will be targeting at the college are primarily IT Networking students. I will be talking up the Fedora Server. I will have a few active servers running. One will be running Minecraft and the other will be running a Web server.

I expect parking to cost from $20-30 for two days. Fuel should just be around $30 (I drive an economy car). I am not formally speaking. I will be engaging students and teachers at SeaGL. More information can be seen on my Fedora Wiki Page at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SeaGL_2018. I will be filling more information into the Wiki this week.

Budget request= $60.

@steelaworkn I updated the title to make it clearer that you aren't filing a reimbursement request. This mostly will help me so I don't keep wondering why I haven't paid you out yet :).

With regards to the request, my recollection is that you went last year. Can you attach a link to the event report. I remember reading it and thinking this was a good investment, but I want to confirm my memory.

I am generally +1 this request and ask the others in Mindshare to vote in ticket if possible.

@bex I did not actually attend SeaGL last year. The last report I could find was from another ambassador (no longer active) He attended in 2016. His theme was Fedora Loves Python. He had T-Shirts and brochures made. Here is his blog on the 2016 SeaGL event https://alg0rhythm.livejournal.com/11917.html.

This approved based on ticket votes and the meeting on 10 October.

@steelaworkn , please post an event report and put the url here. Ideally, post to the Community Blog.

Please open a private ticket in the Fedora Budget repo, pagure.io/fedora-budget when you are ready for reimbursement. Use the reimbursement template which will reference this ticket.

Well, thanks everyone. I do have a blog listed on Planet Fedora. The blog is listed at https://steelaworkn.wordpress.com/. I also have one at https://steelaworkn.blogspot.com/.

@steelaworkn you can certainly post it to your personal blog, but we hope you'll consider the community blog as it may get you wider readership.

Either way, please put a link in this ticket before you file for reimbursement.

SeaGL completed last week. I have been a little out of sorts during the last few weeks. I've had some wisdom teeth removed. I'll get the event reports done and send my receipts in this weekend. Parking was a bit more than I budgeted for. I'm still under $100.

Focus on your health first then let us know about your awesome event participation :)

Hey all. Sorry so long to finalize this event. So much time has gone by that reimbursement is not necessary. I did a brief post even summary. It can be found here: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SeaGL_2018#Post_Event_Summary.

For the SeaGL event, I am into it for $68.46. Let me know where to send the receipts for parking and fuel.

@steelaworkn I'd be happy to see this reimbursement still paid if you would consider expanding your summary to include some of the topics of conversation. I'd also like to know why people on DVDs given the current state of most laptops in the US.

DVD''s because I had a pile of them on my desk and needed to put them to go=
od use. Oh, and I could have made USB sticks if I had those, but I didn't. =
Most Linux people are savy enough to download Fedora themselves. There a=
re always a few people happy to receive a free DVD. I was just burning them=
. People were taking them as fast as I could make them.

Sent on my Samsung Galaxy S=AE 5

@steelaworkn thank you for the insight. If you haven't already, please file a reimbursement ticket ASAP.

@bex, where do I file the ticket? And where do I send the receipts? The last reimbursement, I received it via paypal from @award3535 . I have them scanned in a ready to email. The total is $66.27.

Please submit it to the fedora-budget repo, https://pagure.io/fedora-budget/new_issue - and use the reimbursement template.

Actually, my math was wrong by about 2 bucks. I did submit a ticket https://pagure.io/fedora-budget/issue/92. Thanks.
