#319 Sponsor Linux App Summit
Closed: Complete a year ago by jflory7. Opened 2 years ago by mclasen.

This topic came up in the Workstation WG meeting last week.

We propose to sponsor the Linux App Summit at the "Backer" (1500 Euro) level. This provides the following benefits, according to the prospectus (https://linuxappsummit.org/assets/2022LAS-Brochure.pdf):

Thank you during opening session

LAS is a joint effort between GNOME and KDE focused on building a common app ecosystem for Linux. This year's event will be held in Rovereto, Italy on April 29-30.

For questions, you can contact sponsors@linuxappsummit.org or kprogri@gnome.org.

@mclasen What is planned to do during the office hours? Who will be available there?

@mclasen thanks for opening this ticket! I am generally +1 but along the lines of @tills question, I would like to ensure that folks from the Workstation WG are able to host/attend the office hours

Hey, I just learned from the organizing team that the brochure wasn't finalized yet when I filed the ticket initially. Sorry for that.

The prices for the various sponsorship levels are a bit higher since its more expensive to organize an in-person event, and the 'Backer' level that I suggested is $2500.

I have not made a plan for the office hour yet, but I expect to be at LAS myself. I will check if anybody else from the Workstation WG will be there in person. Virtual participation will also be possible.

Hi @mclasen, Mindshare reviewed your update. The backer level includes the sponsor hour and also a booth at the conference. Unless your group of folks would be up to manage both of those things, we think it would be more appropriate to sponsor at the Supporter level. Let me know what you think. Also- we want to make sure we make the decision in a timely manner, is there a deadline we need to be aware of?

I don't think we'll have the man power to run a booth, I'm afraid. So maybe the Supporter level will have to do.

As for a deadline, the conference is now 6 weeks away, so "the sooner the better". Once we have the decision, the LAS team can start advertising Fedora as a sponsor

thanks @mclasen - the supporter level shows there will be two seats at the sponsors dinner. Would you and another relevant person be able to use those seats?

I am +1 to sponsor at the supporter level

+1 for supporter level and If more people show up in person or virtual participation , I'm favor to support more

thanks @mclasen - the supporter level shows there will be two seats at the sponsors dinner. Would you and another relevant person be able to use those seats?

I am +1 to sponsor at the supporter level

Yes, I assume myself and e.g. Tomas Popela could go there.

What is the next step for this from the organizers side - send an invoice somewhere ?
You could either let me know so I can pass it on, or contact sponsors@linuxappsummit.org
or kprogri@gnome.org directly.

Thanks!

Great, @mclasen, glad you will be in attendance for that piece. I am working with Kristi now to get the admin all set.

Hi @mclasen the sponsorship is paid for and we are listed on the LAS sponsor page [0]. I am working with Kristi to finalize a couple details. I have provided them Tomas & your name for the sponsor dinner. We hope the event is a success!

Once LAS passes, it would be awesome to get up a blog post on the CommBlog [1] (it can be brief), outlining our presence there and any insights you may have about the event. Thanks!

@mclasen checking in here- do you have some blog content to share about your LAS experience or can you do a write up(it can be brief) for the Community Blog? Thanks!

Hi @mclasen, we are being asked to sponsor Linux App Summit again. Do you have any documentation, blog, or other public material about LAS that we can use as a reference for evaluating this year's request?

This ticket is related to LAS 2022. Next time, we should be mindful of documenting our impact and what the Fedora take on an event is. I am closing this ticket as complete since the event passed a long time back.
