#231 Unclear info after 10 days of closure of Fedora Ambassador Program Revamp Proposal ticket
Closed: Complete 3 years ago by riecatnor. Opened 3 years ago by zsun.

In https://pagure.io/mindshare/issue/218 , a new proposal for Ambassadors was proposed. As an ambassador, I think I should get more clear info about what we need to do now. However, the ticket has been closed for 12 days now but there is even no announcements in either the ambassadors list or the announce list. Disappointing.

So again this wastes me a lot of time to figure out what to do. Even after reading around in tickets / mailing lists / wiki pages, I still did not get a clear idea for some parts. As the original proposal was discussed in mindshare, I'm filing this ticket also in mindshare to solve my questions. If this is not the right place, please do specify clearly where these questions should go to.

  • From the wiki, it is suggested "Attend Fedora Council Video meetings". However, the council doc only mentions IRC meetings. Did I misunderstand IRC meeting?

  • There wiki also suggests "Subscribe to Council, Devel-announce, Ambassadors and Mindshare mailing lists". However, from the ambassador wiki, ambassadors were asked to subscribe to ambassadors list and encouraged to subscribe to marketing list. Now this brings us more trouble than ever before - 3 new lists to subscribe. Can we just ask infra to make ambassador list to be subscribed to all these above instead ( I mean, the ambassador list as a subscriber to all these mentioned).

  • Still about the mailing list. I did not find a council list. Directly changing the hyperkitty URL do not results anything useful. https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/council@lists.fedoraproject.org/ . However I find a council-discuss list. Do you mean this one instead?

  • Still about the mailing list. It asks ambassadors to subscribe to mindshare. The ending word 'lists' makes me confused, because there are two mindshare related list - mindshare and mindshare-announce. None of them are really active. So does it mean ambassadors should subscribe to only the mindshare list, or both the mindshare and mindshare-announce list?

I hope these can get clarified as soon as possible, so that others won't waste a lot of time just find confusing information.

Hi @zsun,

Thanks for taking the time to write this. The Fedora Ambassador Program Revamp is a WIP (work in progress) that is being held in phases.

The first phase is over, and that's why the ticket #218 is closed. We have selected 2 people to lead the initiative in #226 and we are looking for volunteers in #227. Last week we were on Nest and we expect people to come with this kind of questions, and also we are going to discuss the status on the next mindshare meeting.

We will do our best to communicate the next steps.

Again, thanks for your comments.

also, let us work in the docs to making all the process more clear (I'm appreciated a lot you work pointing the right place where we need work)

Ah ok, this makes much more sense now. From the email in ambassador list "**Call for Volunteers** Community Outreach Initiative [Ambassador & CommOps Revamp]" I did not get the idea that not everything on the wiki is finalized.

Hi @zsun thanks for opening the ticket. There will be a community blog post with more info shortly.
