1. What is the event and why should Fedora do it? - I am reaching out to you about OSCAL'20. OSCAL (Open Source Conference Albania) is an international 2-days conference taking place in Tirana, Albania. During the past years, the Fedora Project has been there with an infobooth, speakers or as a sponsor.

A brief reminder on what OSCAL is about and what keeps the community behind it going:
OSCAL is the first annual international conference in Albania organized to promote software freedom, open-source software, free culture, online security, and knowledge sharing.
During the last six editions, OSCAL has continuously been shaping its identity and we are now proud to have it recognized by Open Source enthusiasts, professionals, and activists as one of the main events about open technology and open values in the region.

OSCAL is organized on a volunteer basis from Open Labs Albania, the community who promotes the same values as OSCAL since 2012. A community that has been steadily growing in numbers and influence, initiating important initiatives involving the Public Administration, Universities and other local organizations. We are more than happy to have students as the most important attendees of the conference as we aim for OSCAL to be the starting point of their route into Open Source. At the same time, being one of the few events of its kind in the region, OSCAL gatherers many IT professionals, experienced Open Source contributors and policymakers, most of each are happy to return each year. This year, the openSUSE Summit will take place alongside with OSCAL, in one of the tracks at the same venue.

I am creating this ticket in order to discuss a sponsorship opportunity from the Fedora Project towards the conference. The organizers have set 4 sponsorship tiers:
* Platinum - 5.000€ (slot already taken)
* Gold - 3.000€
* Silver - 1.500€
* Bronze - 600€
Benefits for each tier can be found on the Sponsorship Prospectus here: https://oscal.openlabs.cc/assets/OSCAL_2020_Prospectus.pdf

In the past years there always have been local Fedora ambassadors leading Fedora's presence at the conference. Last year we even had a release party during the conference. Here is my report from last year: https://marianaballa.com/the-fedora-project-at-oscal-2019/

2. Event Date: May 16-17, 2020
3. Event Location: Tirana, Albania
4. Swag needs (and why): Yes. No matter whether the sponsorship request gets approved I will apply for a booth at the conference. We already have 2 rollup banners, a table cloth and a fedorator. It would be great if we could have some additional swag.
5. Target Audience: Open Source enthusiasts, professionals, and activists
7. Full Name: Mariana Balla
8. FAS ID: marianab

Hi @marianab +1 to swag

For the sponsorship, it looks like last year we did the Silver level. I propose we maintain that level of sponsorship. @mindshare committee members, take into account when you vote. I am +1 to this

I saw you last event report nice effort +1 no problem here

+1 for Swag
+1 for Silver level sponsorship

+1 for swags and +1 on silver

Hi @marianab we have seen a lot of tech conferences cancelling because of covid-19. Is this event still happening?

This morning the Fedora Council met and made the following decision:
"Per the Fedora Council, the Mindshare Committee should pause funding or organizing for events in the months of March, April, & May. This decision is based on the current state of covid-19 around the globe. The Fedora Council regards this as a rolling decision we will readdress, to adapt to changes in the status of covid-19."

Hello and thanks everyone for voting on this ticket! Only yesterday it was announced that the conference will be postponed and not held in May. Most likely will be October or November, but nothing is certain at this moment.

I can update this ticket with a new comment as soon as I have a date in a few months. Would that be okay?

Hi @marianab as we suspected. Yes, that is fine. We will revisit when we have more solid info. Thanks :)
