#161 OpenAlt 2019
Closed: Complete 4 years ago by bt0dotninja. Opened 4 years ago by eischmann.

  1. OpenAlt - the second largest conference devoted to open source in the Czech Republic, Fedora has traditionally had a booth there and there are also several talks on Fedora in the program this year. It's held on a uni campus, so a chance to target computer science students.
  2. Nov 2-3
  3. Faculty of Information Technology, Brno University of Technology
  4. Rollup banner, tablecloth, and swag as giveaways (stickers, pins...)
  5. No funding needed, it will be covered by local Fedora contributors.
  6. University students, people generally interested in open things (not only software).
  7. Jiri Eischmann
  8. eischmann

It sounds like all that is needed for now is the tablecloth. @eischmann will update if swag is also needed.

I am +1.

I'm posting a report by Jan Beran who spent staffing our booth:
As every year, Fedora had its stand at OpenAlt[0]. We promoted only Silverblue there. Against LinuxDays, there were fewer people, but more of them know at least "there is some Silverblue". Some of them even actively use Silverblue - for example as an OS for seniors (there is only a little risk that they damage their system).

Those who did not know Silverblue were pleasantly surprised by its philosophy (general opinion was very similar as on LinuxDays).

Ondrej Michal also showed KDE version of Silverblue - Kinoite[1].

People also came with specific applications, which should be flatpaked:
DosBox (I started with it right there and now it is in testing[2])
GNU Octave
Markdown editor (UberWriter or similar)
GNOME apps in general

(Not only) by the recent conferences it seems like Silverblue starts to build its user group.
