#13 Standard footer for fedora websites and webapps
Closed: Complete 2 years ago by riecatnor. Opened 6 years ago by ryanlerch.

WE currently (sort of) have a footer on some of our websites (i.e. getfedora.org ) which has links to certain parts in the Fedora Project. I am keen to try to get this idea rolled out to all Fedora web apps and websites.

At the recent Docs Fad, i worked on the footer for the documentation site and reworked this a little bit -- trying to pick just the most important links.

Just wondering if the Mindshare team has any ideas on how and what links show up here.

Hi @ryanlerch , I like the footer and would also love to apply it to all websites too.
We probably need to work it out a bit, because we have some requests to add links to the footer, which we normally try to deny, but the fact that people still think about fedoraproject.org website when they visit getfedora.org makes things not easier.

Actually we have more links in our footer, and still have:

We also have the same proposal in the websites pagure:
https://pagure.io/fedora-websites/issue/653

but the fact that people still think about fedoraproject.org website when they visit getfedora.org makes things not easier.

I think we're only going to get that by standing up something else at fedoraproject.org.

Maybe, but another website is probably not desired.
Personally, but I might be wrong, I would not change our initial plan to use fedoraproject.org for Hubs, and many of the links people would like to see on getfedora could go there.

Because Fedora is not a software company trying to service users, I think it is important that getfedora make mention of our community and contribution. This footer seems like an easy way to do that. Even if we get hubs one day and even if we get other websites, I see no reason for our distribution/project download front end to not link to contribution.

@ryanlerch Were you able to move forward on the footer? Is there any other information needed for this ticket or is the issue resolved?

Not really,

I am after a list of links that mindshare would like in the default footer. Or are the current links adequate? Happy to go with the current links.

This lists great to me so far. One quick catch:

https://plus.google.com/112917221531140868607

This should be:

https://plus.google.com/+Fedora

See docs-fp-o#60 for more information.

I know this is in @ryanlerch 's queue, but we should plan to drop Google+ as it is closing down.

@ryanlerch Is there any information on this. It's been a long time, so I'm not sure if this is still relevant.

I propose to move this issue from Mindshare to the up-and-coming Websites & Apps Team repository (note the link below will change per fedora-infrastructure#9882).

I second your proposal @jflory7 - not sure which repo it should land in. Are you able to move this to the right place?
