#120 Translation Sprint 2019-1 (May 2019)
Closed: Complete 4 years ago by bex. Opened 5 years ago by gnokii.

I finally got a partner who is willing to host our translation sprint. The bad is it will be just sunday but saturday was problematic anyway as it is a normal working day here. But they are willing to host us monthly. After a short consultation with the most active translators we will go for bi-monthly sprints.
So the next Translation Sprint will happen on 5th of May, I would need the usual 100$ for pizza during lunch time and a few softdrinks. I have some fears it will be not enough 4*30cm pizza cost 47.96$ and I cant get this time a discount as i dont use PiPay anymore. I expecting some more people this time as I catched some interested people at ICT Camp back in December.

Goals for this Translation Sprint:

  • finish the translation of the web branch which is currently nearly on 50%
  • driving forward of the translation of ABRT and Anaconda
  • starting kuy translation team, I was approached during ICT Camp if we can start with this indiginous language (there are 480.000 speakers in Cambodia, Lao and Thailand) so I will do the preparations for it and hope the people are still interested

Approved for $100. Please publish an event report and provide the link here. Then you can open a ticket in fedora-budget for reimbursement.

sorry, it took me a while to write the report and publish it: http://karl-tux-stadt.de/ktuxs/?p=5082 I am very busy these days. The receipt from Dominos was messed up unfortunately, I hope the one from SuperDuper is still readable. I bought the Coke and some cookies for the afternoon there, its way cheaper then Dominos (3 times). It took me 4 attempts to get at least this kind of paper from them, they are very unflexible when they get to something new here.

@bex can you do a bank transfer instead using paypal? I loose a lot of money using paypal for this, they now make a currency conversion with a horrible rate before the transfer. Can you contact me, I need a small strategy conversation.

(my comments about the event report got lost)

The event report is great! I noticed you're working on budget.fedoraproject.org. I suggest holding off on that as I am hoping to migrate it to docs.fp. o so that our translation platform gets more regular updates.

I look forward to seeing hte ticket for funding for the next sprint.

I would like to talk with you before, we reached now dimensions where pizza isnt doable for all participants anymore. Pizza is here freaking expensive, I can pay for 2 weeks my lunch for one. However its scheduled for 7th July

@gnokii please open a budget ticket per step 7 here: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/mindshare-committee/small-events/ Thank you.

Why is there more work created? Fedora infrastructure isnt exactly friendly to me, I have days I cant login because openID times always out, have spoken with infrastructure long time ago.

You should spend the funding you are allocated to achieve your desired outcome. You are not required to purchase pizza. The requirements, as listed at https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/mindshare-committee/advocate/ are "We are open to you suggesting uses for your budget that make the most sense for you, your area, and the event, however we tend to restrict the money to no more than $25 being spent on travel and none being used to produced swag."

We do this for several reasons, including a) Allowing you to put your private details in a private ticket without closing the event ticket to the public; and b) allowing multiple people to process reimbursements from all areas of the project, not just Mindshare.

I am sorry you have infrastructure challenges. I have challenges with other parts of Fedora's infrastructure because of where I live, so I empathize with you.

you dont get my problem, I can go buy Coke in a streetshop and pay half of that what I pay in the supermarket. I can easily go with all of them eat for less then 5$ a person. But the trouble is the paper, I can not bring an invoice doing this, except you accept a one written from me.

The point is I already did ask that back in December last year, pizza is here something and this crowd wanted pizza, this time I would have scored better with chicken.

For me I would love more to go to dinner after work with them, that way only the ones staying to the end get rewarded. But that might get a few $ more expensive

I never had trouble sharing this in public, no harm can be done.

@gnokii you are free to increase your budget request as needed. The Mindshare team can then make a decision.

Please email me directly with potential options for receipt ideas. While our policy is to request receipts we can make some exceptions, especially in situations where receipts are uncommon in a particular location.

While you may not have trouble sharing your bank details publicly, we do not want to create multiple processes. We have a single process that covers the majority of our use cases and prevents confusion. Thank you for using it.
