HEIF is the new controversial image format that will finally free us from inefficiency of JPEG. It is now preferred and official in iOS 11 and macOS 10.13. Please add this to /etc/mime.types:
image/heif heif image/heic heic

Will do once they're in the IANA registry, I suggest filing an issue about the official registration at https://github.com/nokiatech/heif/issues, perhaps it would speed things up.

Hi, i synched mime.types with IANAs list. heif and heic are present in the newest release 2.1.49. Closing this as fixed.
