#273 Enable access to foreign architecture RPMs (e.g. select 32-bit packages in 64-bit build roots)
Opened 8 years ago by fweimer. Modified 2 years ago

For ppc64, s390x, x86_64 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, some packages have a build dependency on the 32-bit packages for:

glibc
glibc-common
glibc-devel
glibc-headers
glibc-static
glibc-utils
nss-softokn-freebl
nss-softokn-freebl-devel

We currently have hack called glibc32 which re-packages the 32-bit RPMs and is built on the 64-bit architectures listed above, but we'd prefer if this wasn't necessary and new 32-bit builds became available automatically.

Would it be possible to make those 32-bit RPMs available in 64-bit build roots in a more direct fashion?

@mikem isn't it an issue which could be solved as part of #54 (signed repos)? Or at least after that, if it will still include multilib features?

It would not be immediately solved by #54, but that might be part of a solution here.

Has there been any progress on this issue? We are running into problems again due to the existence of the glibc32 package.

@fweimer let's chat so that I can better understand the impact and urgency of this work.
