#9 Kernel updates are trying to obsolete the previous builds; this is broken on systems using lqx exclusively
Opened 2 years ago by topsyandpip56. Modified 2 years ago

Problem: The operation would result in removing the following protected packages: kernel-lqx-core

Skipping packages with conflicts: (add '--best --allowerasing' to command line to force their upgrade): kernel-lqx-modules x86_64 5.12.13-lqx1.0.fc34 copr:copr.fedorainfracloud.org:rmnscnce:kernel-lqx 69 M kernel-lqx-modules x86_64 5.12.13-lqx1.1.fc34 copr:copr.fedorainfracloud.org:rmnscnce:kernel-lqx 69 M Skipping packages with broken dependencies: kernel-lqx x86_64 5.12.13-lqx1.1.fc34 copr:copr.fedorainfracloud.org:rmnscnce:kernel-lqx 8.6 k kernel-lqx-core x86_64 5.12.13-lqx1.1.fc34 copr:copr.fedorainfracloud.org:rmnscnce:kernel-lqx 8.1 M

The kernel update appears to be attempting to obsolete the previous version instead of simply updating, which would add the next release alongside the previous one. For systems that are booted into the lqx kernel and don't have the stock kernel available to save space, this makes it impossible to upgrade the kernel. The stock kernel-core must be reinstalled, booted into, then the system can be upgraded and stock kernel removed once more.

This is a known issue on xanmod too and honestly I'm trying to fix it

The problem is that it works on conventional RPM install but don't on DNF
