#5 5.17.11-301.fsync.fc36/5.17.12-301.fsync.fc36 won't boot
Closed: Fixed 2 years ago by sentry. Opened 2 years ago by sacredsin.

Hi

I updated from 5.17.9-302.fsync.fc36 to 5.17.11-301.fsync.fc36 and then 5.17.12-301.fsync.fc36, but it wont boot past "amdgpu: Topology: Add CPU node"

5.17.9-302.fsync.fc36 still boots fine

Any more system information you can provide?
What Hardware?
Does the same happen on the Fedora Kernel?

I am not using the stock Fedora kernel, I think it is excluded from updating to it.

Hmmm
the commit for 5.17.11 (665aa4e) introduced nothing relating to amdgpu so this could very well be a problem with the stock kernel.

I can only suggest that you try the Fedora Kernel and see if the same occurs

I've looked into it a bit further and might have found something that caused this.

I've uploaded a kernel build that might have fixed the issue under https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/sentry/kernel-fsync-test/

Hi

After lots of testing, and eventually uninstalling all but 5.17.9-302.fsync.fc36, I could eventually update to 5.17.12-301.fsync.fc36 and it is booting fine!
