We're evaluating a move of the public-facing channel of the Cockpit project from IRC to Matrix. After a small amount of searching, it seems like fedoraproject.org would be the best home for us.

We're a free software project developed in the open, worked on mostly by the Cockpit team at Red Hat.
I'm not sure what the possibilities are, but we'd also be interested in setting up a (possibly temporary) bridge to our old IRC channel (#cockpit) on irc.libera.chat. I have channel owner status there, if that is necessary or helps.
So, I think the easiest way to do this would be to just keep the current room and adjust it. ;)
Can you make my admin account admin in the channel? @kevin:fedoraproject.org
With that account I can add a fedoraproject.org alias and then make it default (while keeping the fedora.im one) and then add it to the fedoraproject.org spaces.
As far as bridging. I can set that up too, or you can. Basically you need to be oped on the irc channel, then go to the matrix room and 'add integrations' -> 'irc bridge' -> libera.chat, then select your irc user to verify it, it will send a message which you say 'yes' to, and it sets up the bridge. ;)
