#8 I3 SiG's Presence at Nest with Fedora
Closed 3 years ago by jflory7. Opened 3 years ago by nasirhm.

As Nest for Fedora's CFP [1] is Open and we're at our initial stages of our Development of the Spin, I would like to propose a General Session of ~30 Mins for Nest to Share about our work and our goals as a SIG:

  • Making i3wm accessible on Fedora
  • Finding ways to create the best possible and optimized interface for users and beginners to a WM.

The session on Nest would be outlining our achievements and our Plan of action for the future.

This would help the spin creation process along with the SIG by the following ways:

  • Gain a wider community input on How to derive the spin and still maintain a minimalistic approach.
  • Connect with interested people to get our ISO's tested and report bugs like @x3mboy did on Intel RST.

Sorry, I clicked "Comment & Close". Re-Opening

The slides look great. The Development Cycle chart is super useful, we should definitely get that on the wiki or the docs site once it is rolling!

Some quick feedback:

  1. Respin testing, slide 14: Add a clear call-to-action on how to test our Respin and where to share feedback with the SIG (Pagure, IRC, mailing list?).
  2. Pictures > text: Don't worry about this too much, but sometimes pictures can say a thousand words. Not everyone is a native English speaker too. So pictures can sometimes be better ways to communicate ideas. Use your best judgement on what is too text-heavy versus what could be simplified with a pic, meme, or funny GIF.

But overall, this is looking good and I am excited to catch this one! :grinning: Good luck team!

Thank You @jflory7 for the review, I've made some updates to the slides to fix the call for action along with removing some unnecessary text from the slides.

@x3mboy Kindly review and let me know if there's anything that needs to be updated.

@nasirhm The slides look good to me, thanks for creating them!

Few minor suggestions:
- slide 3: What’s i3 window manager -> What is the i3 window manager
- slide 4: add attribution to the logo, it is not our work and also not licensed under CC-BY-SA 3.0 (it should be BSD 3 clause licensed as the rest of i3)
- last slide: add the mailing list as a POC as well

@x3mboy is the person behind the slides.

Thank you for pointing the Legal issue here, I totally missed it while reviewing the slides.

I've updated them and created a -final one with the provided suggestions to be used in the Talk.
