I think the Fedora I18n Project needs some kind of Mission Statement to guide our direction. This is a call for discussion to form such a statement and add
the mission to near the top of the I18N wiki page.

From the discussion at the today's meeting:
ACTION: move the discussion of the mission statement for i18n to the list (tagoh_, 06:52:09)

Email sent to i18n-list from juhp for inputs.

I put out "The Mission of the Fedora i18n Project is to ensure we have the best possible international language OS support in Fedora".

Pravin pointed out last week that we need to consider Vision vs Mission statements:
roughly Vision is long term goal (end point) and Mission is how we get there.

Ankit posted "Enabling Fedora to speak your language".

Mike Fabian: “To boldly fix i18n bugs nobody fixed before.”

Replying to [comment:3 petersen]:

Ankit posted "Enabling Fedora to speak your language".

"speak well" may be an improvement.

epico: "Constantly improve i18n user experiences, such as input method and fonts rendering"

Need to have draft by 12th Nov meeting.

It seems we should develop the Vision Statement first and then consider the Mission.

A couple of ideas for the Vision:

"All Fedora users can effortlessly read and write their languages"
(feels a little narrow)

"Users can use Fedora in their own languages effortlessly and effectively."

An idea for the vision:

"Let native speaker of every language feel comfortable and enjoyable."

Idea for vision

"Making technology accessible to users so that they can read and write in their native languages with ease"

Using essential tokens from the various suggestions and more discussion today we came to:

"Fedora i18n makes technology accessible and attractive for users of every language."

I see we all agree with following statement. Let's close this ticket.

"Fedora i18n makes technology accessible and attractive for users of every language".
