#111 Fedora 31 i18n test day
Closed: Fixed 9 months ago by pnemade. Opened a year ago by pnemade.

We will plan i18n test day for Fedora 31 as well. More details will come when time comes to organize it :)

proposing 10th Sept as our i18n test day

@pnemade do you want me to write a blog on community blog?

Sure if you have time please go ahead. This time we have 3 Changes implemented already in F31.
1) https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Langpacks-core
2) https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/IBus_1.5.21
3) https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/VariableNotoFonts

Just a suggestion, should we add a description in the test page about having unified profile line? such as:

1) bare metal or VM?
2) which variant? WS? SB?
3) lang
4) arch?

Should we drop the ibus-fbterm testcase from the testday?

It would be good to add Silverblue to "Nice to test" (or even make it an an alternative install choice?) and also Toolbox.

We also need a testcase for the new gnome-software langpacks feature: Sundeep said he would take care of that.

Do any testcases need updating?

Updates to existing test case steps can be done anytime, even during the i18n test day though not recommended. But addition or removal of regular test cases should be discussed at least 15 days before test day.

Should we drop the ibus-fbterm testcase from the testday?

Dropped from the results page template but will re-generate results page later.

It would be good to add Silverblue to "Nice to test" (or even make it an an alternative install choice?) and also Toolbox.

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2019-09-10_I18N_Test_Day#Prerequisite_for_Test_Day now suggest users can test either on Workstation Live or Silverblue install system.

Not sure what to propose testing for Toolbox. If there is already testcase page I can add it.

We also need a testcase for the new gnome-software langpacks feature: Sundeep said he would take care of that.

@suanand can add that test case steps to wiki page ->
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Testcase_langpacks_installation_using_gnome-software

This has been concluded now with summary https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2019-09-10_I18N_Test_Day#Fedora_31_Test_Day_Report

Thank you all who helped for this test day.

hello friends, I realize I did not get my badge for contributing this test day.

Here is the list of people who got rewarded: bbarve
akshay196
vishalvvr
blackfile
mfabian
pnemade
pravins
pwu
pyadav
renault
sandeeps
siddharthvipul1
smaitra
suanand
sumantrom
tagoh
twinkle28
zlopez

I see vishalvvr, pravins, sumantrom got rewarded but are not in test results, I think it is related to bit part of organization or contributing in another way. No issue here.

Here is the list of people who sent results: bbarve
blackfile
meskobalazs
mfabian
pnemade
pwu
pyadav
renault
sandeeps
siddharthvipul1
smaitra
suanand
tagoh
twinkle28
vipin
vvijayra
zlopez
jibecfed
akshay196

I see meskobalazs, vipin, vvijayra, jibecfed did not get the badge, may it be because of too late contribution?

In the future, may it be possible to prevent adding more tests results once you are done testing? I think it may prevent this situation.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Badges are awarded based on their FAS names but still people prefer to use different name. It becomes badge awarder duty to find their FAS names and award it.

@jibecfed I do not know any way to close the submission of test results. But its simple to cross-check. If you see wiki page section https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2019-09-10_I18N_Test_Day#Test_Results is already filled with results then people testing should understand that test day is closed.

@jibecfed Please report closing of submission of test results issue to https://pagure.io/fedora-qa/testdays

Thanks

But the real subject here is: do we really want to say to people "please stop testing"?
Isn't any test welcome and what we want to encourage?

Well, why should it be called as "TestDay" then :) ?

We actually started asking people to continue few more days to test the testday but how many such days we should wait, I don't know. Maybe Fedora QA people can define it for us :)

We had test day on 10th Sept and I added test results on 15th Sept, so let's calculate that as testday was open from 10th to 14th that mean for 5 days. Without results copied to wiki page a summary cannot be generated.
