#56 Translation for the transcripts of the Fedora Podcast
Opened 6 years ago by x3mboy. Modified 3 years ago

Today we have launched 3 episodes of the Fedora Podcast, and we are sharing them by several sources (SoundCloud, SimpleCast, Google Play, iTunes and Stitcher) and we are having the trasncripts for sharing to people that get hard times listening to it.

Now I have the idea of having this transcripts translated in several languages, up to you which will be the ones choosen, but we have a lot of listeners in Germany, and several countries in Latam. The idea behind the translation of the transcripts is to gain more audiences.

The link for the transcripts is:
https://x3mboy.fedorapeople.org/podcast/transcripts/

And the specific link for each episode shipped until now are:
Episode 001
Episode 002
Episode 003

Also, I've created a Zanata's Project to work on this.

Episodes are being released each 2 Fridays, being the last one released today. The transcript are being uploaded each 2 Thursdays, being the last one uploaded Yesterday.

P.D.: My timezone is -3 UTC

this sounds a good idea :)
I assume this is the place where you publish the transcript and may push the translations? https://x3mboy.fedorapeople.org/podcast/

Is there any plans to include this work to docs.fedoraproject.org?

@bex is finishing the translation support for docs and we are close to communicate on the subject, I feel like this would be easier for everyone if this podcast content could be merged somehow in the documentation tooling.

We can put this on the docs site as an asciidoc formatted and (asciibinder soon antora) published site. Would this be better though, as part of the fedora-websites site repos? @robyduck

Transcripts live here:
https://x3mboy.fedorapeople.org/podcast/transcripts

That page is a plain html done by me, so any idea is welcome!

If it is already plain html then the fedora-web infrastructure (or how they do html translations) may both be best. @robyduck

@x3mboy we are migrating on Weblate: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N_Move_to_Weblate

Would you like to migrate too? If so, where is your git repository hosted so I can help you?
Whatever you decide, please lock your project in Zanata: https://fedora.zanata.org/project/view/fedora-podcast

Would you like to migrate too?

Yes, I would like to migrate too. I'm planning to restart the podcast soon, so It will be cool to have the transcripts in the new platform.

If so, where is your git repository hosted so I can help you?

Actually I don't have one, but I can create a new one in the Maketing team pagure.

Whatever you decide, please lock your project in Zanata: https://fedora.zanata.org/project/view/fedora-podcast

Done!

@jibecfed thanks so much for your help with this.

great, then please move your source file in the repository you'll create in marketing group, and provide commit rights to @jibecfed and @weblatebot , I'll do the configuration for you.

It's super early in my TZ, but after a coffee, I will proceed with this.

Thanks

kind reminder, Zanata will be removed in a few weeks: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Zanata_removal

you said you will create a repo in fedora Marketing, is it still the plan?
