Flight: 550 EUR = USD 725[[BR]]
Hotel: 184 MYR * 4 Nights / two people = 368 MYR = USD 120[[BR]]
Total: USD 845
I suggest either one, flight or accommodation. As hotel is relatively cheap, this is the absolute minimum. Around 50% would be cool, but frankly speaking I don#t expect full subsidy because I already got sponsored to Blacksburg and I intent do go to the other FUDCons this year, too.
It's not so much that I accomplish things but I want to enable others. I would like to meet with members of the Asian community. I think the Asian community - including their FAmSCo representatives - still can improve a lot.
Another reason for me to go to a FUDCon in Asia is that there are a lot of talented C coders and I want to encourage them to participate in some projects I am trying to push, namely pure GTK+ applcations of stuff that used to be part of GNOME but has now been integrated into gnome-(s)hell. I am
Things I have on my agenda:
Meet with the FAmSCo people and the leaders of the Asian community
Thinking about a process for sponsorship and reimbursements, common reporting guidelines for spendings etc.
Improve swag shipping. This still seems to be a serious problem in APAC and LATAM.
* GNOME 3 or why we need lightweight desktop environments - and what you can do to improve them.
* Advanced RPM packaging (the most confusing specs of nearly 10 years package maintenance)
* Fighting spam with postscreen
I will look for flights and provide details once I get feedback about my funding request. The only restriction I have is that I need to leave directly after FUDCon. FUDCon ends on May 20, it will take me at least one day to get home and on May 22nd I need to start building up the Fedora booth at LinuxTag Berlin. LinuxTag opens doors on May 23rd and I am the event owner.
No. EU citizens don't need one.
I'm afraid it's too hot in KL to wear my beefy Miracle costume but I will bring it nevertheless.
There will be a "Funding Approval Meeting" on Friday March 23rd, 2012 at 14:00 UTC (#fudcon-planning). Please, do attend the meeting as we might have some questions for you before approving your funding.
Given the short notice and that I am traveling I am not sure I can make it. I will do my best but I cannot promise anything. If you have any specific questions, don't hesitate to ask me here.
From 2012-03-29's "Funding Approval Meeting", your funding has been approved. Would you prefer harish buying the flight ticket or prefer getting a reimbursement for it (as flight ticket pricing fluctuates and buying it yourself can get it at a lower price)?
If you prefer the former, to process your flight ticket, we need a few personal details from you.
Could you please email these details to my email, which can be found at: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Mavjs
Could we know how much amount are you willing to cover exactly? However, as of the current budget, we are ok with covering your request fully.
Thanks a lot Maverick,
I compared prices and both Orbiz and all the flight search engines on the FUDCon wiki page were ''way'' more expensive than what I got here in Germany. I have now paid 573,93 EUR for the flight and travel cancellation insurance.
As for the costs: I am willing to take over a part and for simplicity I suggest that I pay for the hotel while Fedora reimburses me for the flight. Is there a common hotel where all/most of the conference attendees will stay? What about booking? Did the event owners reserve a number of Rooms in one of the hotel?
All the sponsored attendees will be staying in a common hotel, called "Hotel Sri Petaling" - http://www.hotelsripetaling.com.my , it's just 10-15 minutes away from the event venue. We have requested Harish to book for the hotel rooms.
Do let me know if you need any help/info.
Invoice for my trip to KL
Initiary for my trip to KL
I booked and paid a hotel room for myself and the bed mavjs booked for me in the family suite was given to one of the volunteers.
I have blogged about the FUDCon 4 times, all posts can be found
[http://www.christoph-wickert.de/tags/fudconkl2012/ in my blog]
The total amount I'd like to have reimbursed is 573,93 EUR == USD 721,77. You can use PayPal to my fpo address.
I wonder who is to reimburse me, Robyn or Harish? And from what budget?
Christoph - I will talk to Harish and sort it out. I hereby appoint you to ask me about it in two days. :)
Harish, any chance you can reimburse me?
Please forgive me I ask you and not Robym, but according to the guidelines you are the budget owner for the event so you are supposed to pay me I guess.
And while you are at it, please have a look at #193, there is somebody still waiting for money for Pune.
Harish, any chance I can get reimbursed any time soon?
I held the opening keynote and 2 talks and 2 lightning talks.[[BR]]
I paid for my own hotel room and gave the bed reserved for me to one of the volunteers.[[BR]]
I donated my cool Red Hat keyboard for the raffle, I even paid for shipping it to the winner.[[BR]]
I blogged 4 times during the event.[[BR]]
I wrote a lot of status updates on Facebook and Google+.[[BR]]
What else do I need to do to get finally reimbursed?
Meanwhile Jörg is back from vacation. He could reimburse me, but that would probably cause problems for other EMEA people or upcoming events. Harish, please let me know if you as the budget owner of the event will reimburse me or if Robyn or Jörg need to take over.
Thanks, I received 573,93 EUR from Leslie via PayPal.
