#272 Funding request for Sandro "red" Mathys
Closed: Invalid None Opened 12 years ago by red.

  • What do you need covered? (Please estimate the costs in USD: hotel $X, travel $Y)
  • hotel: $160, flight: $1000
  • If we cannot provide a full subsidy, will a partial subsidy be helpful? (Yes/No)
  • Yes
  • If Yes, specify the minimum amount you need covered to facilitate your attendance.
  • $1000 (i.e. the flights)
  • What will you accomplish by being at FUDCon? (Please be as specific as possible, since this is the most important factor in granting requests.)
  • Give a workshop "Intro to QA: software testing, test plans and test cases"

  • Pitch a talk to show QA-wannabees how to get started (sort of complements the workshop)

  • Participate in the yet-to-be-planned QA-anaconda hack-/testfest

  • Evaluate with anaconda team how QA for F17 (with the QA-critical UI rewrite) can be done efficiently/early on

  • Try to accomplish more amazing QA stuff with all the other awesome QA folks around

  • If you are requesting airfare, include complete flight information such as flight numbers, desired departure and arrival airports, and times. Also let us know if you have specific time restrictions.
  • TBD. The most simple option would be ZRH->ROA / ROA->ZRH. But if I can include a few days in DC or some other ~nearby-city-worth-a-visit I might go for that. Would make sure not to top the price the direct flight would cost.
  • Do you need a visa or other official processing before you can attend FUDCon? If so, approximately how long does that processing take?
  • No, just ESTA which is a no-brainer and done rather quick.
  • Include any additional, relevant information.
  • I love beefy miracles!

'''UPDATE, EVERYTHING ABOVE CAN BE IGNORED''' (as it's outdated or, for easier overview, repeated below):

  • What do you need covered? (Please estimate the costs in USD: hotel $X, travel $Y)
  • hotel: $189 (4 nights in shared twin room)
  • flights: $1000 tops

  • If we cannot provide a full subsidy, will a partial subsidy be helpful? (Yes/No)

  • Yes

  • If Yes, specify the minimum amount you need covered to facilitate your attendance.

  • $1000 tops, i.e. the flights

  • What will you accomplish by being at FUDCon? (Please be as specific as possible, since this is the most important factor in granting requests.)

  • Barcamp session "[General] Introduction to Fedora QA" in which people will see what QA does and how to participate.
  • ~1h workshop: "Introduction to Fedora QA: software testing, test plans and test cases" for people interested on doing (pre-release) testing.
  • ~4h hackfest between Anaconda and QA, mostly focusing on the UI rewrite but also test plans, test criteria, and whatever else will come to our minds - both QA and Anaconda devs are looking forward to this session.
  • Of course I'll also try to make the best use of my general knowledge as a contributor for the last 4.5 years in various roles such as package maintainer, QA member / proventester, former FUDCon EMEA organizer, former CWG member and former ambassador.

  • If you are requesting airfare, include complete flight information such as flight numbers, desired departure and arrival airports, and times. Also let us know if you have specific time restrictions.

  • Departure airport: ZRH
  • Arrival airport: ROA
  • ZRH > IDA > ROA: UA937 + UA3334, 11:55AM-03:23PM + 07:55PM-08:50PM on 2012-01-12
  • ROA > IDA > ZRH: UA3340 + UA936, 02:30PM-03:34PM + 05:47PM-07:55AM on 2012-01-16/17
  • That's $951 on orbitz.com, however I'm still trying to get a few extra days off to pay Washington DC a visit. That would change my flight plans somewhat but I guarantee the above mentioned $1000 will not be exceeded, actually $976 would be the most expensive option I'm looking at.

  • Do you need a visa or other official processing before you can attend FUDCon? If so, approximately how long does that processing take?

  • Just ESTA, 72h ahead of first flight.

  • Include any additional, relevant information.

  • Planned flights are not exactly final!
  • Please do not book anything without getting back to me first. There's a small possibility that my employer will actually cover my flight and hotel in which case I'd return any funds granted by the Fedora Project, which is much easier if nothing's booked yet. I'll let people know as soon as I get feedback on that from my employer, shouldn't take too long now.
  • Kindly let me know if you need any further information :)
  • I love beefy miracles!

My employer really decided to cover my travel and accommodation costs, so Fedora doesn't need to sponsor me. Yay!
