#23 Gather information on "food rules" for Brickyard & Memorial Union
Closed: Fixed None Opened 13 years ago by rbergero.

Need to find out if there are catering / other food guidelines for having breakfast on-site both at Brickyard (Saturday and Sunday) and ASU Memorial Union (Monday).

ASU Memorial Union rules can be found here:
http://www.asu.edu/studentaffairs/mu/catering.htm

"ASU Catering must be used for food and/or beverage service for an event hosted in the MU. For more information or menu options please call (480) 965-6508 or stop by their office located on the main level of the MU behind the Information Desk. Food may also be purchased at any of the dining venues in the MU or ordered from Domino's Pizza (903 S. Rural Rd. location at 480-968-5555) for events held within the building."

One of the dining venues in the MU is Einstein Bros. Bagels - random pricing of items is as follows:

Darn Good Coffee® To Go - $15.99 - serves up to 10 - includes cups, lids, half & half, sugar, etc.
13 bagels + 2 tubs of cream cheese - $13.99
Fruit salad - serves up to 20 - $38.99
Mixed Bagels and Sweets Nosh Box® - $37.99 Serves up to 21 - An assortment of 9 breakfast sweets and 12 bagels with 2 double whipped cream cheese shmear, honey butter and preserves.

There is also a starbucks in the MU.

ASU Catering has breakfast stuff as follows (this could possibly also apply for anything we want to do in the Brickyard, depending on their rules): (see http://www.campusdish.com/en-US/CSMW/ArizonaState/Catering/SimpleTakeawaysMenu.htm for more ASU catering info)

Gallon of coffee (20 6oz. servings): $14.39
Hot tea selection: 13.59
Lemonade - gallon: 6.39
Dozen of:
Bagels and cream cheese: $15.99
Danish: 8.99
* Muffins: 6.99

Email has been sent to Jon Delany @ ASU to find out more about Brickyard rules for food / catering / etc.

Received word from Jon Delany that we CAN have food in the Brickyard facilities, but we need to work within ASU Catering rules/guidelines.

Wrapping up ASU Catering rules:

I spoke with Collen (pronounced like Colleen, if anyone else ever talks to her) with ASU Catering on Friday.

When working with them, we CAN request food donations, but ASU Catering prefers this to be limited to bottled water and soda. Beyond this, they can't be sure about contamination - ie, if someone gets sick, who is responsible. So, other perishables, snacks, etc. are out for during hte day - but the good news is that by filling out a food waiver, we can have "donated" drinks - which will save us a boatload of money for breakfasts/lunches/etc during the weekend.

I'd like to suggest that we open up a new ticket or even milestone of "FUDCon Breakfast" so that we can have deadlines for making final menu decision, having tickets for filing paperwork for food waivers by appropriate times, actually ordering the food, etc.

Hi Robyn, you're listed as an Admin on this Trac instance, so you can create this milestone and a deadline date for all of its tickets to be completed. Just login, go to "Admin" at the top links, and look for Milestones in the admin menu.

Since we have the rules in question now, can we consider this particular ticket closed?
