Ticket was cloned from Red Hat Bugzilla (product Fedora): Bug 1612446
Description of problem: The server had samba configured. When I install freeipa-server-4.6.90.pre2-3.fc28.x86_64 and configure IPA, the existing samba config in /etc/samba/smb.conf is removed. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): freeipa-server-4.6.90.pre2-3.fc28.x86_64 How reproducible: Tried once. Steps to Reproduce: Install free-ipa rpm. Install by ipa-server-install I got problem with ipa-server-install with one step, so I performed ipa-server-install --uninstall. Re-run ipa-server-install. Actual results: /etc/samba/smb.conf was removed Expected results: smb.conf should be saved as backup instead of being removed. Additional info: I am not sure if the file is removed when I run ipa-server-install or ipa-server-install --uninstall.
