#7500 FreeIPA can remove svrcore-devel requirement
Closed: fixed 5 years ago Opened 6 years ago by mreynolds.

Request for enhancement

We merged the svrcore package into DS starting in RHEL 8 (F28). We are going to officially request the removal of svrcore from RHEL & Fedora now, and since it's now merged into DS FreeIPA can remove this Build Requirement from its specfile.

389-ds-base provides svrcore now so there isn't a ton of urgency on this but it should be corrected before the 4.7 final release.

# rpm -q --whatprovides svrcore-devel
389-ds-base-devel-1.4.0.8-1.fc28.x86_64

Does/did FreeIPA ever use svrcore directly?

That's an interesting question. I checked back as far as ipa-2-0 and the requires is there, an autoconf check is there but I don't see it actually used.

It could be it was added to workaround some missing 389-ds or other dependency.

Probably makes sense to drop it and see what happens.
