#6942 Provide indication that install is completed
Opened 6 years ago by simo. Modified 5 years ago

In some workflows we have the need to know when a server install is complete to be able to start another task.
For this it would be nice to have an indication of the server status in LDAP.
Something that allows other clients/servers/admins to verify (prhaps change ?) the current status as: READY/INSTALLING/UPGRADING/MAINTENANCE?
Perhaps simply putting an sttribute in the rootdse or in cn=ipa.

IMO we have cn=masters,... as place where information about servers should be stored.

This can partially solve the issues with parallel upgrades (to prevent them) as they are causing replication conflicts. If any server is in UPGRADING state then other servers should refuse to upgrade.

This needs design and all use cases have written.

@simo could you mention the work flows? Priority of this bug will be mostly derived from workflows it supports.

Note that we currently disable all listeners so even if you had an UPGRADING state it wouldn't be visible.
