#6725 No page for information on build from source
Closed: fixed 6 years ago Opened 7 years ago by amitkumar25nov.

I cannot find a page which states how to download and install freeipa from source.
This may include extended information about dependencies.

Click on fork.
Find your fork url something like: https://pagure.io/forks/<your-user-name>/freeipa.git

git clone https://pagure.io/forks/<your-user-name>/freeipa.git

cd freeipa/

./autogen.sh

make

make install

Hello Amit, the page that is closest to what you are looking for:

http://www.freeipa.org/page/Build

I would suggest to do the updates there and/or promote the page better if needed.

You can also check the BUILD.txt file in the project root directory (see the Building section).

For development questions, feel free to contact us on freeipa-devel mailing list.

IMO, we should add 'for developers' section to README.md, which is displayed at Pagure's and GitHub project page. Which would point to BUILD.txt or http://www.freeipa.org/page/Build

@pvoborni what do you think should be added on this "for developers" section?
IMO we could have something simple like this:

# For developers
* Building FreeIPA from source
   * http://www.freeipa.org/page/Build
   * Check the BUILD.txt file at the root dir
