I was thinking if we should have a webui-less installation method that redirects any webUI call to another IPA server, this would make it possible to do upgrades more easily on some servers or temporarily redirect admins to a newer server while older are still not upgraded.
I was thinking about 2 cases: 1. we definitely configure a server to never expose a webUI and always redirect 2. temporary redirect configurable by admin (for maintenance, etc...)
case 1 is for remote masters used only to share load etc, where you do not expect to do any direct changes, and you want to avoid exposing more than you need.
case 2 is for maintenance windows, upgrade cases etc
No need to have fancy automatic redirection rules in the first implementation. It would be nice to have a very simple command that sets it up properly for the admin (or unsets it), something like: ipa webui redirect <other server fqdn> ipa webui restore
Make sense to evaluate for 2.1.

This is RFE is a good idea. But it was not addressed for a long time. As a part of ticket cleanup effort to reach maintainable and clear backlog we are closing the ticket as there are no current plans to address this RFE in foreseeable future.
If you think it needs to be addressed with a priority, then please reopen with your user story.
