1. Proposed title of this feature request ---> Need a centralized mechanism that will monitor all the IPA services. 2. What is the nature and description of the request? ---> For IPA they need a mechanism that will monitor all the IPA services. 3. Why is this needed? ---> Looking on the server, there are lots of process's that look as if they are important, but there is no documentation relating to them, and whether or not they should be running on all servers within a replicated cluster. The requirement is to provide a centralized monitoring tool for all IPA services running on a particular system. The tool should determine which services are enabled on the IPA server and monitor/report/restart services if they stop.
Sounds similar to SSSD monitor.
For the record: The approach proposed on Tuesday's meeting is to extend ipactl to provide machine-readable output format, so some serious monitoring systems (e.g. Zabbix) can easily read status of FreeIPA services.
