The default configuration file for at least fedora 18 has the option for kerberos authentication disabled. I know it's not required for linux hosts login in but for windows machines using putty it is. How this setting should be changed or only a warning should be given while running ipa-client-install I don't know. That's up for debate I think.
The ticket should go through a triage before putting it into a specific milestone.
I think you need to clarify what you mean by kerberos authentication and what your configuration is. Do you have trusts configured?
ipa-client-install configures the IPA provider which is more or less a combination of krb5 and LDAP (I'm over-simplifying).
If you are talking about the !KerberosAuthentication option, then sorry, this will not be fixed. See #2689 for more information.
