In short - you cannot link with both -lldap_r and -lldap. Since you only need to link with -lldap_r in threaded programs, and very few of our programs are threaded, this doesn't affect most of us. However, IPA slapi plugins will be affected - they should only link with -lldap_r and not -lldap. I've recently fixed https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=755725 - 389-ds-base-1.2.10.a6 will contain this patch.
