#1722 Add more information into the installation logs in debug mode
Closed: wontfix 5 years ago Opened 12 years ago by dpal.

When using ipa-server-install in debug mode the debug log should contain information about what checks have been conducted and what was the result.

Each check should be reflected. For example:

"Checking hostname resolution. Host name XXX. Resolves to XXX. Names match..."[[BR]]
"Checking DS instance presence. Instance named YYY is detected at location ZZZ. Aborting.[[BR]]

In the --uninstall I expect to see the same checks but with the remediation step

"Checking DS instance presence. Instance named YYY is detected at location ZZZ." [[BR]]
"Removing A..."[[BR]]
"Renaming B..."[[BR]]
"Backing up C..."[[BR]]
"Cleanup complete... starting over"[[BR]]
"Checking DS instance presence. No instance detected. Good to go!" [[BR]]
...[[BR]]

Make the log more informative to explain what is going on. The person who is not familiar with the internals easily gets lost.

Ondra shall look on this in a scope of his internship.

Moving to next month iteration.
