Plans are that the first official version of samba4 will be released at the end of 2011. If this really happens we want to have a new samba package in Fedora 17 which is build from this release.

Since there will be a couple of new features and maybe many high expectations about samba4's ability to replace an AD controller ti would make sense to create a Fedora feature page to document the changes and new possibilities on a more prominent place than the Changelog file. Currently there is not official date for the "Feature Submission Deadline" of Fedora 17 but it can be expected that it will be sometime in the middle of January 2012.

Based on the state of samba4 we should decide during December 2011 if we want to introduce the new samba4 package and create a feature page or stay with a samba3 based package.
