I have been unable to set up replication on a F-15 i686 host (reports are tha6 64-bit is working). Martin dupliated my problem.

389-ds team has duplicated this outside of IPA.

Turns out to be a problem with some assembly language they wrote to provide 64-bit counters on 32-bit systems getting optimized out by gcc. They are investigating a workaround.
