The Selenium tests can be run via GUI using Selenium IDE or command-line using Selenium Server. Running via GUI produces quite consistent results. However running via command-line doesn't. This is probably due to some subtle differences in these tools in handling asynchronous AJAX calls.
The solution is to find methods/workarounds that will work reliably in both GUI and command-line and modify the tests to use them.
Reassigning to Petr who worked on Web UI integration tests using Selenium. AFAIK, he did not notice this issue.
