#57 [BOF] Fedora Handbook 2018
Closed: Talk Scheduled 5 years ago Opened 5 years ago by eischmann.

It's time to issue an updated version of our printed Fedora User Guide, so that it's ready for the fall season of conferences and the new year at universities.
This session will be focused on updating and perhaps extending the asciidoc content, refreshing the cover, discussing how to integrate the project into the Fedora docs.

More info about the project: https://pagure.io/ambassadors/fedora-handbook

I would definitely like to attend this session at Flock. It would also be interesting to see how this could be a useful resource for remixes or other derivatives of Fedora (e.g. @tjzabel with TigerOS in proposal #25).

I'd like to see connecting this with the docs team as part of the outcome of this.

Plus, we should talk about how Fedora CoreOS and Fedora Server play into this.

I agree. To integrate it with the rest of the docs didn't make too much sense a year ago because the tooling was different and the outcome of this is not a digital content, but a printed handbook, but after the Fedora docs switched to asciidoc it makes much more sense and I'd love to see more traction around the project.

I'd be happy to help with structuring the content so we can produce both versions. Perhaps we should work on this during Flock?

Yeah, I'd be happy. We could use this session as a kickstarter. I still think these handbooks have most value as printed giveaways and I'd like to discuss how we can scale creating a print-quality PDF and its printing in a global community (translating the cover artwork, typesetting the print PDF, printing it...).

CC: @asamalik may need your help here for single stream from Antora

Sure. To give an example of what @bex means, we've done this for the Fedora 27 Release Notes. A single-page version can be viewed by simply adding /all/ to the end of the URL like this. https://docs.stg.fedoraproject.org/en_GB/fedora/f27/release-notes/all/

Please note that single page is manually defined by including all other pages. See the source: https://pagure.io/fork/bex/fedora-docs/release-notes/blob/antora_f27/f/modules/release-notes/pages/all.adoc
