#42 [workshop] License audit of Fedora critical-path
Closed: Talk Scheduled 5 years ago Opened 5 years ago by spot.

It has been many moons since we've done this, and we're overdue to do it again. The purpose of this workshop is to go through the packages in Fedora's critical path and ensure that the licensing of the source code in the SRPM matches the License tag in the spec file. The more people we have who can help out with this process, the better.

For more info about Fedora Critical Path, see: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Critical_path_package

It's also a great time to do basic spec file cleanups, if anything obvious is there.

Audience would be: Proven packagers, people who want to learn more about licensing, or people who can be bribed with food and drink. We can use tools like fedora-review to help automate the process, but ultimately, we need sensible humans to do the final check.

+1.Maybe a stretch goal of expanding from Critical Path to "Base OS" as defined in Fedora CI? (see https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/CI/Tests/stat).

+1 maybe a stretch goal of formalising a plan to automate it so that it happens with every commit and upload of sources to lookaside cache
