#393 [Hack-half] Fedora Infrastructure & Releng mini barcamp
Closed: Talk Scheduled 2 years ago by isagordillo. Opened 2 years ago by kevin.

Would like to do a half day (or would work slightly more limited as a 2 hour workshop) infrastructure barcamp.

We would organize before the session in a bar camp like way:

  • Gather proposals for things people want to do
  • Vote on proposals and we would work on things in highest to lowest voted.

Examples of things we could propose to do/would be valid:

  • Onboard new contributors to infrastructure
  • Talk about technical debt items and come up with plans for them
  • Collaboratively work on updaing our documentation / Standard Operating procedures
  • Walk through our onboarding docs and fix the/improve them based on feedback from new folks
  • Answer questions attendees have about infrastructure
  • Work on some items we haven't had time to get to (AWX proof of concept, get zabbix working better, etc)
  • Do some releases of applications that we haven't released and need to
  • Do a release above, but follow all the way through from upstream release to deployed
  • Talk about pie in the sky plans. Where should we been in a year? five years?
  • Triage and deal with old releng tickets
  • Your ideas here.

This would allow Infrastructure and Releng to get things done, but also include Nest folks and potentially share information or onboard new contributors.

Need the Infrastructure and Releng folks:

@mobrien
@humaton
@zlopez
@arrfab
@phsmoura
@darknao
@dkirwan
(and more)

Is this a…

FAD/Hackfest that lasts a half-day

Please review the following guidance on using Hopin as a speaker and leave a comment if you have any questions.

On the day of your presentation, login to the event through the link above and go to the "Sessions" tab on the left hand side of the page. Your session will be visible under the "Sessions" tab for 10 minutes before and after the scheduled time. Click on your session and you should have full rights to moderate and present. Click on the "Share Audio & Video" button. Once you see yourself on screen, you're live to the audience.

You may want attendees to join you on screen to ask questions or interact. If so, you can see attendees asking to join at the bottom of the video in the Moderator Panel. You get to choose who comes up on screen with you there by clicking the "+" button on each request.

While unlikely, if you run into any technical difficulties during your session, please write in the Hopin chat what your issue is and message me through Hopins direct messaging feature. Another admin or myself should be able to resolve your issue within a few minutes. You can also take a look at Hopins Knowledge Center if you have questions about how the platform works or have any issues.

I should be available at that time/date. Everything looks good.

I am hoping to find a barcamp/lean-coffee scheduling app before then and we can self organize a bit before the day. :)

I've looked around at various tools, but decided to try and keep things
simple, so I made a hackmd document for us to use.

https://hackmd.io/MiWdaZXCRDi4LEO1jmyLDg

Please add topics you would like to see discussed and also vote on how
long we should discuss each (we have 90min, so we could do 3 30min, 6
15min, 9 10min). I already added a topic myself. Ideally also each topic
would have a 'note taker' who can record notes about the discussion into
the hackmd while it's ongoing.

The first 15min I want to use for introductions and last minute voting /
topics, then we can dive on in. ;)

I also left a 30min block at the end for wrapping up, and also
revisiting things we ran out of time for or new things we wanted to get
to.

If there's not enough topics, I will add more. I am sure we can find
things for me to bloviate on for the entire time. ;)

Looking forward to seeing everyone and having some great discussions!

@mobrien please register so I can add you as a speaker for the event and moderator for this session.

Apologies @riecatnor I thought I had registered already. I have registered now so you can add me as moderator. Thanks
