Questions/Requested Information

What is your proposal?

This Hatch event is a half-day in-person Fedora Hatch event organized in the Rochester, NY office of Datto, Inc.

The office address:

Datto, Inc.
1 South Clinton Avenue
Suite 1300
Rochester, NY 14604
United States of America

What are the proposed dates for your event? We would like to schedule Fedora Hatches in July.

This is proposed for July 21, 2022.

Who in addition to you is interested and willing to coordinate the event? Each event should have a handful of people that are able to pitch in.

List each person by their name and FAS ID, as shown below:

Anything else we need to know?

Event planning information

We're planning for around 20~30 people attending. We do not yet have an estimation on our costs for the event, but we can update with that information later as we gather it.

Venue guidance

We need a pre-registration page to collect a list of visitors to register for entry into the Datto office. Registration needs to close by July 18 so that they can be collected to register as visitors with our facilities team.

The pre-registration page will also need attendees to affirm the following:

ALL of the following are TRUE: 1.) You are not presenting any Covid-19 symptoms 2.) You have not been to any hotspot/high risk areas or been in contact with anyone who tested positive in the past 2 weeks 3.) You will abide by all posted signage and safety guidelines

Having masks on-hand is strongly recommended.

Location guidance

The City of Rochester has some advisory guidance, but there are no requirements from the city.

Hey @ngompa thank you for opening this up and I am excited to see a Hatch in my home town, of course :D

Let's start working on some of the details
- How would you like to set up the pre-registration form? My first thought is getting something set up using LimeSurvey. Please let me know if you'd like to go that route or if you have something else in mind.
- What if any costs will be associated with the event? There is room for some funding for this event, but it would be good to get a handle on what those are. If possible, I'd like to pay for those directly as that will be easiest for me to expense and I am local to Rochester.
- Any persons who are non Red Hat employees receiving travel/accommodations from Fedora funding need to fill out the funding eligibility form on the budget pagure [0] before they book any travel/accommodations.
- Since I am local, I think it would be fine to have swag shipped to me directly
- @isagordillo will be working on some promotions that will include this Hatch event. She will follow up here with any details/requests related to that
- Let's make sure to document the event with pictures!
- After the event has taken place, please write up an event report for the CommBlog. It can be brief (1-2 paragraphs).

@dmccheyne is working on an EventBrite signup form for this.

Datto is handling the accommodations (venue, food/drinks, etc.) for the event. If there's an after-event dinner, that is a currently unfunded cost. At the moment, we don't have plans for such a dinner, though.

Sounds great!

Hi @ngompa
Please review and edit this potential tweet.

Fedora Hatch (hatched egg emoji) in Rochester, NY is coming on July 21st! Thank you (clapping hands) to our Ambassadors Neal Gompa and David McCheyne.

Is there a planned agenda for this event? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth the 6+ hour drive to get there.

Not yet. I just got up the talk submission repo for this: https://pagure.io/fedora-hatch-2022-rochester

If you're interested in giving a talk, then feel free to submit. @dmccheyne and myself will be reviewing them and filling the agenda out accordingly.

Hi @ngompa and @dmccheyne

DEI team is working on putting together some content for the upcoming FWD. It would be great if someone at the Hatch can get photos of the event along with some video content.

Video- We are inspired by the Budapest Flock to Fedora.

Linked below is the FWD resource pack where you will scroll down and find the "Community Script"- use this script for speakers to follow! (This can be articulated in any language the speaker feels most comfortable in)

Thank you!

@dmccheyne and I have now got the signup form in place: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fedora-hatch-2022-in-rochester-new-york-usa-tickets-367043004507

So we should be set for advertising it and the repo for talk submissions (due July 13).

Thank you for hosting one of Fedora's first ever Fedora Hatch meetups. We want to ensure that we have documentation from the Hatch events, so we can improve for next time. To do this we ask if you can please provide any photos, event recap, or blog posts from the event. The Fedora Event Report template, attached to this comment, can be filled out or used as a starting point to guide you in recapping the event. If you already have a blog or Discussion post covering your Hatch, please provide a link.
