Closed: Resolved a year ago by jflory7. Opened 2 years ago by ngompa.

Questions/Requested Information

What is your proposal?

This Hatch event would be part of the larger openSUSE conference to allow Fedorans to meet up with our friends in the openSUSE community, learn about each other, and further our collaboration together.

What are the proposed dates for your event? We would like to schedule Fedora Hatches in July.

The openSUSE Conference is going on in Nuremberg, Germany on June 2 through June 4.

Who in addition to you is interested and willing to coordinate the event? Each event should have a handful of people that are able to pitch in.

List each person by their name and FAS ID, as shown below:

Anything else we need to know?

There is a corresponding proposal submitted for oSC 22 on their events platform (link may not be visible yet until schedule is published).

Who are you?

Name: Neal Gompa

Matrix ID: @conan_kudo:matrix.org
Timezone: America/New York

Hi @ngompa thank you for your Hatch submission, this sounds great! I am excited that Fedora will be able to join the openSUSE conference in person this year :D I know you and @defolos were working on a plan for the session, do you have any updates on that or need further input?

Could you provide a couple more pieces of info:
- Approximately how many attendees do you expect
- Approximate breakdown of any costs
- Any links to COVID-19 guidelines for the region and venue where the event will be located

Unfortunately I have really no idea how many people will come, but I would be surprised if more than 20 showed up.

  • Approximate breakdown of any costs

I think we would mostly need funds for swag, but here it would be easiest if it could be shipped to me, so that I could bring it to the conference directly instead of having to buy swag myself.

We could consider buying some refreshments, but I'd have to double check with Doug whether that would be allowed or necessary.

  • Any links to COVID-19 guidelines for the region and venue where the event will be located

General travel information to Germany can be found on the homepage of the ministry of internal affairs, restrictions specific to the region (Bavaria) can be found on the homepage of the city of Munich (note that the local restrictions are most likely to take precedence).

Hiya @defolos thanks for the reply. We can ship the swag to you. I realize the event is coming up pretty quickly, so lets get that going. Please open a ticket on the budget repo [0] using the "swag-shipment" template under "Types". Thanks!

The swag has arrived at my place and should now be on its way to Nürnberg.

Is there anything else that we can/should do before the actual event?

HI @defolos great news :) my guess is the meetups have already begun or will soon- please enjoy and take some pictures. Afterwards it would be great to get a short summary blog post onto the Community Blog, which I can help promote.

Hi @defolos & @ngompa how'd it go? Looking forward to your event report :)

Unfortunately I got sick and couldn't attend the event, so I can not report=
anything :-(

Thank you for hosting one of Fedora's first ever Fedora Hatch meetups. We want to ensure that we have documentation from the Hatch events, so we can improve for next time. To do this we ask if you can please provide any photos, event recap, or blog posts from the event. The Fedora Event Report template, attached to this comment, can be filled out or used as a starting point to guide you in recapping the event. If you already have a blog or Discussion post covering your Hatch, please provide a link.
