#336 [Talk-25]: Introduction to NeuroFedora and the Comp-Neuro Fedora Lab
Closed: Talk Scheduled 2 years ago by riecatnor. Opened 2 years ago by major.

Session would be: Live

Open Neuroscience is heavily dependent on the availability of Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) tools that support the modern scientific process. While more and more tools are now being developed using FOSS driven methods to ensure free (free to use, study, modify, and share---and so also free of cost) access to all, the complexity of these domain specific tools makes their uptake by the multi-disciplinary neuroscience target audience non-trivial.

The NeuroFedora community initiative aims to make it easier for all to use neuroscience software tools. Using the resources of the FOSS Fedora community, NeuroFedora volunteers identify, package, test, document, and disseminate neuroscience software for easy usage on the general purpose FOSS Fedora Linux Operating System.

To make the neuroscience tools more accessible, NeuroFedora also provides an easy-to-install and ready-to-use OS image: the Comp-Neuro Fedora Lab image.

This talk would cover:

  • An overview of NeuroFedora
  • Applications/Use-cases for the real-world scenario
  • The Comp-Neuro Fedora Lab image
  • How the NeuroFedora community functions and contribute
  • Ways for people to contribute and participate in the community
  • A demo of the comp-neuro image (perhaps)

Who in addition to the speaker needs to be in the virtual room for this to succeed? This could be the audience you need to reach, other participants in the conversation, or other stakeholders.

List each person by their name and FAS ID, as shown below:

Person One (pone): Ankur Sinha (@ankursinha)

This is a 25 minute Talk

Name: Aniket Pradhan
FAS ID: major
IRC Nick, if not FAS ID: MeWjOr
