#272 [Talk-25]: Cobbler - State of the Union
Closed: Talk Not Scheduled 3 years ago by riecatnor. Opened 3 years ago by brejoc.

1. What is your proposal?

Lots of things have changed in the last year regarding Cobbler when Enno took over as the project lead and things where gaining momentum again. The most visible changes are probably the Python3 port, the new docs and a revamped website. We would like to provide a complete overview of what has happened and how the project might move forward.

The agenda looks roughly like this:

  • What is Cobbler?
  • What have we achieved so far?
  • Where are we currently?
  • Closing Remarks

2. Who in addition to the speaker needs to be in the virtual room for this to succeed? This could be the audience you need to reach, other participants in the conversation, or other stakeholders.

List each person by their name and FAS ID, as shown below:

3. Is this a…

  • 25 minute Talk

4. Anything else we need to know?

We would like to pre-record this session, because we probably won't be available at Flock itself.

5. Who are you?

  • Name: Enno Gotthold & Jochen Breuer
  • FAS ID: @schoolguy & @brejoc
  • IRC Nick, if not FAS ID:
  • Timezone: CEST (German summer time)

Remember, Flock is an inward-facing talk, where we focus on the project itself and our contributor and community base. Can you help me understand how this talk fits into this context? Perhaps it would be better for Fedora to sponsor this talk at a sysadmin-focused conference?

Hey Matt, that’s a fair question. Cobbler was, as far as I know, a project that was at least pretty close to Fedora, and I was told that parts of the Fedora infrastructure are/were managed with Cobbler. That’s why I hope that Cobbler is still something that is of interest for the Fedora community.

Unfortunately, your session has not been accepted for Nest with Fedora 2020. Thank you for your submission and please submit again for future Flocks/Nests. We look forward to seeing you at Nest!
