#259 [Talk-50]: rpmautospec, goal, design and scope
Closed: Talk Scheduled 4 years ago by riecatnor. Opened 4 years ago by pingou.

= Questions/Requested Information

  1. What is your proposal?

rpmautospec is aimed at providing a way for packager to drop manually updating %release and %changelog in their spec file. It instead relies on information stored in the git repo, partly as git tag, partly as plain text file and partly in the git logs.

This talk aims at presenting the goal of rpmautospec, its design and design choice. Its current known limitations, for which some have already known work-around as well gathering your feedback on this project with the ultimate goal to decide if we, collectively, believe it is worth pushing forward/

  1. Who in addition to the speaker needs to be in the virtual room for this to succeed?

List each person by their name and FAS ID, as shown below:

  1. Is this a…
    * 50 minute Talk

  2. Anything else we need to know?

Due to their extreme atmospheric conditions, it rains diamonds on Neptune and Uranus.

If you have private concerns, please email them to
flock-admin@fedoraproject.org.

  1. Who are you?
  • Name: Pierre-Yves Chibon
  • FAS ID: pingou
  • IRC Nick, if not FAS ID:
  • Timezone: Europe/Berlin

I will be unlikely able to participate live as I will be traveling on Saturday or Friday and maybe busy on Sunday. Sorry about that, but I am hardly critical for the talk.

@riecatnor This conflicts for me with the CPE bingo.

Also: the times listed here do not include a timezone :)

This conflicts for me with the CPE bingo.

Oh, I see it in the text now, the timezone is EST (ie: America/New-York) (which apparently is EDT in summer https://www.timeanddate.com/time/zones/edt something new ).

So that makes it 2pm +6h = 8pm to 9pm for the Europe/Paris and Europe/Berlin timezone.

@asaleh @nphilipp does that suit you?

@pingou works for me oops, missed that it's Saturday, not Friday. I'm blocked on the whole day then, we're moving a friend's household.

@nphilipp Sunday or Friday would suit you better?

@pingou The same time slot or earlier on Friday (i.e. before 9pm CEST, 3pm EDT) would be ideal. Sunday (our) afternoon would be second best, I'd like to avoid Sunday evening if possible.

Hello, I made adjustments to the schedule based on the feedback provided. The timezone for the attached schedule is EDT. Please review and let me know if there are any conflicts.

Thanks!

@nphilipp does this time work for you?

@pingou this is Sunday, 4pm-5pm our time, right? Works for me.

Hi folks, if you haven't yet please register at -> https://hopin.to/events/nest-with-fedora so I can add you as a speaker. More info to come. Thanks!

Hi! Nest with Fedora is beginning shortly. I want to thank you for speaking at this years contributor conference, your time and effort is appreciated :)

I have outlined the basic process for speakers below. If you have questions, feel free to drop them here and I will do my best to answer them before the event begins.

How to get to your session:
Enter the event
Go to Sessions tab on the left at the correct time
Click your session
Accept permissions for audio/video
You're in!

Currently, only @pingou is set up to moderate this session. Sessions are set up as moderated by the speakers. There is a maximum of 10 people on screen at once, though people can leave the screen and different attendees can request permission to join. The speaker(moderator) will have a moderation panel on the bottom left hand side to allow or deny the request. If you feel you need someone besides yourself to help with moderation, please make sure they are registered for the event and provide their full name here. Anyone can watch and participate in the chat. Sessions will be recorded.

To share slides, there is an option at the bottom to share your screen, where you can choose the window/tab to share. To share a video with audio, you can share your screen and play the audio on loud speaker (so your mic picks it up). Screen sharing works just as other video conferencing tools (like Google Meet, Bluejeans etc).

If you have technical issues during your session, contact one of the attendees labelled "Organiser" or myself, Marie Nordin, through the platforms direct message function.

Cheers!

Thank you for your participation at Nest with Fedora, it is appreciated. It was a great event and we have received a bunch of positive feedback.

Please attach slides or a link to slides here, and I will close the ticket as complete. If you did not use slides during your session, please comment to let me know.

Cheers!

@nphilipp would you have a way to export the slides in PDF?

Otherwise, they can be found in html at: https://nphilipp.fedorapeople.org/nest2020-rpmautospec-slides/

@riecatnor @pingou Here's the PDF file. It can be generated from the online version: tack ?print-pdf to the end of the URL, print (to PDF) with margins set to zero, background graphics enabled and the pages you want put in (I skipped one empty page, pages that only revealed a lightbulb and questions).
