#216 [Workshop] Software-Defined Radio and Fedora
Closed: Talk Not Scheduled 4 years ago by mattdm. Opened 4 years ago by coremodule.

What is your proposal?
Fedora has many usable software-defined radio applications in the repos, as well at the electronics package group. As such my workshop will be designed around showing people how easy it is to get started with SDR on Fedora. I will provide RTL-SDR dongles for attendees to use and follow through the presentation with. We will do things like construct an FM radio receiver, view Wi-Fi signals, hack a wireless doorbell to ring on our command, among other fun projects.

Who in addition to the speaker needs to be in the room for this to succeed?
Those interested in SDR, radio, RF, amateur radio, Fedora. Beginners are welcomed! Seasoned vets will only make for a better discussion! Attendees are asked to bring their computers with Fedora installed.

Is this a…
2 hour workshop

Anything else we need to know?
I will provide the receiver dongles, all attendees need are a computer and internet access.

Who are you?
Geoffrey Marr, FAS: coremodule, IRC: coremodule

This seems like another one I'd be really happy to fund as an "outreach" talk at a user-focused conference, but not necessarily a good talk for Flock.
