#171 [Talk-25/50] The future of automated build checks in Fedora CI
Opened 2 months ago by tflink. Modified 17 days ago

  1. What is your proposal?

While Taskotron is due to be decommissioned, we still need a way to run the checks that it is currently responsible for running (rpmdeplint, rpmgrill, abicheck, python-versions etc.) and Fedora CI is a fitting place for those checks to land.

This talk will cover changes coming to how non-build-specific checks are run against builds in Fedora and the existing plans for how that will look in the future.

  1. Who in addition to the speaker needs to be in the room for this to succeed? This could be the audience you need to reach, other participants in the conversation, or other stakeholders.

List each person by their name and FAS ID, as shown below:

  • dcantrell
  • Other CI folk (for questions that get into other areas)

Beyond that, the target audience is primarily packagers and folks interested in automated checks.

  1. Is this a…
  • 50 minutes: Talk
  1. Anything else we need to know?

Just need a projector for this talk

  1. Who are you?
  • Name: Tim Flink
  • FAS ID: tflink
  • IRC Nick, if not FAS ID: tflink

As for the time of this talk, I can do either 25 or 50 minutesbut that would effect the content. 25 minutes would mostly be "here's what we've done and here's what we're planning" and 50 minutes would give more time for the "why" behind design decisions, more detail on how packagers can run the automated checks locally and help with changes going forward

Which talk length is preferred by you?

I guess I have a slight preference for 50 minute as that gives more time for answers to the "why are we doing this" and help to make sure that our intentions and plans are clear

I'd like to hear the 50 minutes version.

Pending scheduling conflict, I'd like to attend :)
