#121 [Talk-50] All things containers: a deep dive into untold features of Podman, Buildah and Skopeo
Closed: Resolved a day ago by riecatnor. Opened 11 months ago by vrothberg.

1. What is your proposal?

The community is well aware of Podman and how and why it can replace other container engines (e.g., Docker). In this talk, I want to show everything but that and talk about features and functionalities that users coming from Docker have not yet experienced as they are unique to Podman and its sibling projects Skopeo and Buildah.

I plan to run over a selected set of features, show how they can be used and why I think they are worth checking out. Besides those user-visible features, I want to do a technical dive into some non-functional topics. How do we keep those tools fast and secure? What are some core challenges when developing those tools? And other aspects...

2. Who in addition to the speaker needs to be in the room for this to succeed?

  • Folks, interested in containers. Experience in using container engines such as Podman is a big plus.

3. Is this a…

  • 25/50 minutes: Talk

I can talk as long as you want me to :^)

4. Anything else we need to know?

  • Video projector
  • Internet connection

5. Who are you?

  • Name: Valentin Rothberg
  • FAS ID: vrothberg
  • IRC Nick (Freenode): vrothberg

This sounds cool, and also with a @vrothberg being a new person, I'm interested to hear his perspective!

Are you proposing a 25 or a 50 minute talk?

Are you proposing a 25 or a 50 minute talk?

I prefer a 50 minutes talk but if required I can also do a 25 minutes one.

note to mattdm as making schedule: avoid conflict with GSOC talks
