I'm filing this request at the urging of a few folks such as David Nalley and Greg DeKoenigsburg.

Fedora's Java ecosystem is growing rapidly, and we still have issues with old java packages not being updated to meet current guidelines (missing or heavily modified POM files, old jpackage-style packages, etc.), or simply not being updated to consume upstream bugfixes. I would like to be able to take a more active role in improving the quality of these packages.

I'm happy to help maintain non-Java packages as well, of course. I have experience packaging python, perl, Qt applications, and various other things, and my previous job often required back-porting patches and understanding new code on-the-fly.
