#542 Updates exception request: calibre for f13/f14
Closed None Opened 13 years ago by kevin.

Package Name: calibre (also python-cssutils)
FAS Name of maintainer: kevin,chkr,frankly3d,mbacovsk,nushio

Reason for requesting a updates process exception:

Calibre follows a release cycle thats not very complementary to Fedoras. There is a single update stream that has bugfixs, new features and new hardware enablement. Updates are typically once a week, leading to a high rate of change.

We would like to update calibre in the f13/f14 repos to the latest version for the following reasons:

  • Calibre in f13/f14 currently has a bug that causes it to harmlessly traceback on exit. This leads to everyone using it adding on to abrt reports about the issue. We have fixed this bug in rawhide and would like to fix it in released versions to avoid the flood of abrt reports.

  • A large number of new hardware ebook readers have been added. We would like f13/f14 release users to be able to use calibre with their new ebook readers.

  • The following existing bugs in fedora would be fixed by upgrading:

615602 - fixed in 0.7.23
662466 - fixed in 0.7.32
664317 - fixed with new cssutils
654022 - fixed in 0.7.28
612961 - fixed with new cssutils
607782 - fixed in 0.7.34
618912 - fixed in 0.7.28
601014 - fixed with new cssutils
598065 - fixed at some point.
607726 - fixed in 0.7.38
559484 - f12/f13 traceback on exit
642877 - f14 traceback on exit
651727 - f14 traceback on exit

We would have to update python-cssutils in f13 as well, but calibre is the only user of this package and the update is quite stable, and api compatible.
