In response to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=Please+Update+Spec+File+to+use+%25ghost+on+files+in+%2Fvar%2Frun+and+%2Fvar%2Flock
FPC has approved the following statement:
"When we switch /var/run and /var/lock to tmpfs, directories that packages create in /var/run and /var/lock are not to be %ghosted and created in %post. Instead, simply create the directories as normal and list them in %files. There needs to be some additional configuration of the tmpfiles.d mechanism to handle creating those directories on reboot but the guidelines for that have not yet
We would like FESCo to consider ratifying that statement.
http://tinyurl.com/2g3fnxw is a better query, because it includes CLOSED bugs that will need to be reopened to resolve this.
What kind of configuration of the tmpfiles.d mechanism is required? What is Lennart's take on this?
Note that Lennart is out for the holidays, if I recall correctly.
Statement was ratified by fesco.
I've written tmpfiles.d guidelines: https://fedorahosted.org/fpc/ticket/44
This is just based on the documentation, not from actual use -- I'd appreciate if someone who's more knowledgable could verify the correctness of the facts there. FPC meets on Wed mornings. (Hopefully, I'll get to verify that the Guideline works before then if no one else does).
Please direct comments about the guidelines to the fpc ticket. Thanks!
